- General Planting Tips: Hostas prefer shady sites with adequate moisture. Hostas can vary in size, so check your plant tag for space requirements. Dig a hole two times the width of the container. Remove plant from container and place in the hole after having loosened the root ball slightly. Add soil back to the hole ensuring the top of the root ball is even with the soil level. Water and add more soil if needed. Add 2-3inches of mulch around plant. Water thoroughly during initial planting, using as much water as necessary to thoroughly water plants and surrounding bed. For the first 3-4 weeks it is important to regularly check and water your plants. Once established only water as necessary.
- General Fertilizing Tips: Fertilize in spring when new growth appears, and once more before flowering with a general purpose or slow-release fertilizer.
- General Pruning suggestions: Prune off flower stalks/scapes after flowers fade. For a neat apperance, remove old foliage in early winter when plants are fully dormant.
- Bloom Tips: Pinch early in the growing season for a fuller, bushier plant
